Over the past couple of years I have made the decision to follow a new artistic direction with both my medium and subject matter used. Having previously worked in pure watercolour painting award winning studies of derelict old vehicles I am now finding a new enthusiasm for working with acrylics. I focus on certain aspects of the landscape which in particular include quiet areas of fields and woodland and am influenced in my approach by a quote from John Muir 'Come to the woods for here is rest'

My paintings are based on walks in the beautiful areas of our National Parks and the challenge to myself is to find ways of not only interpreting the location but to take it away from the literal and yet still capture a sense of place, of quiet and of stillness.
