In My Mind’s Eye/Witness – new work by Vivian Cockrill and Cheryl Crichton-Edwards

This new work in oil by Vivian Cockrill and charcoal, ink and chalk by Cheryl Crichton-Edwards is deeply rooted in the landscape .

Cheryl’s work is a direct and expressive response to the landscape and bears witness to the changing light and weather brought about by the deepening winter, our changing climate and a deepening horror at recent events.

Vivian’s work is an Evocation. She says

In my minds eye I see

The horizon, the sky, and colours of you

the land.

Shifting and turning,

Spread before me,

above me, below my feet.

So I come to rest

Vivian’s work has recently been exhibited at Life in Full Colour, Caernarfon 2023, The Liverpool Art Fair 2023 and Oriel y Capel Llangollen.

Cheryl’s work has been shortlisted for the Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize 2024 and selected for the Agored Open Oriel Plas Brondanw 2024 Llanfrothen . Her work has also been awarded second prize the Agored Open Galeri Caernarfon.
