George Davies and Alex Fleming "Captured on Canvas"
The central theme of this exhibition is capturing a moment in time. Both artists depict wildlife from the UK and around the world in a realistic, traditional style, showing glimpses into the lives of these animals.
George's artwork is influenced by trips around the UK, in particular the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Mull. Other work features wildlife from friends' trips to Alaska and eastern Africa and tells stories from their experiences which have inspired him.
Alex creates realistic art for a living because he likes the challenge of it. In trying to do a subject his own kind of justice, it’s very fulfilling when he gets it right.
He might alter the odd thing in an artistic rendition, but it’ll be subtle, and rare (if ever). The real and natural world is immensely interesting to me already, so I leave imagined alternatives to those more skilled in and appreciative of them.
Nature covers a gamut of size, colour, personality and beauty Alex finds should be worthy of anyone’s attention. It’s also constantly changing, largely for the worse, which is why he donates a portion of all his wildlife sales to animal charities.
Meet the Artists/Open Evening is on Friday 30 June 2023 7 - 9 pm. Everyone welcome.
