'Touchwood' - Textiles in the Park

Textiles in the Park came into being as a group in February 2017.

The group meet regularly in the Rangers’ meeting room at Marbury Country Park near Northwich; hence the name Textiles in the Park.

There are twelve members in the group who all work independently of each other, but come together for skills workshops presented by members of the group. All the group members are interested in a range of textile techniques and come from a wide variety of textile backgrounds including embroiderers using hand stitching and machine embroidery techniques, weavers, dyers, a beading artist, printers, mixed media artists, felt-makers and a wire artist.

The works shown in the Touchwood exhibition are all textile pieces made in response to the environment of Marbury and Anderton Country Park. The work was first shown as a body in March of this year in the park, where it was received very well and enjoyed by hundreds of visitors to the park over a weekend.
