Beginners Photography Workshop

A workshop is designed for beginners, or for those of you who want to learn more techniques that will improve your photography.

Professional photographer and member of Peak District Artisans, Ian Daisley, will show you how to take control of your photography and create better, well thought out images.

  • Understand how good composition and lighting can create professional looking images.

  • Learn how aperture and different lenses affect your images.

  • Find out about exposure and how to control it in different situations.

By understanding how to get the best out of your camera, you can explore your own creativity, and discover how to properly compose your images, using techniques that are easy to understand and remember. This workshop will teach you how to use shutter speed and aperture correctly, creating professional looking images.

We start the day looking at how to get the best from your own camera, and demonstrating how camera settings affect the final image. We then put this into practice around the immediate vicinity of the Arts Centre, before reviewing and critiquing your images.

Participants will need to bring their own cameras. Any DSLR, Bridge, Mirrorless or compact camera will be suitable, as long as it has options for manual control. Camera phones are not suitable.

If you do not have your own, there will be 2 Canon DSLR cameras available to use. Please ask about availability when booking.

This is an indoor event, to be held in the main exhibition room at Castle Park Arts Centre. Please have warm clothing, suitable for when we are working outside, although if it is raining we will only work inside.

The workshop will take place at Castle Park Arts Centre, Frodsham, where, from the 18th February to 29th March, Peak District Artisans are presenting an exhibition of art and design.

Saturday 22nd February, and Thursday 12th March. 10 am to 4 pm.

Castle Park Arts Centre, Gallery 1

£40 per person per day excluding lunch
