Introduction to Linocut Printmaking

Free Creative Taster Session for 50 +

This workshop will enable participants to develop an understanding of the basics of printing and leave the workshop with a completed print. During the workshop participants will be introduced to linocuts and can carve and print their own design and are advised to select a simple design to focus on the contrast between light and dark. 

Protective aprons and gloves are available as printing inks can be messy. All materials and tools provided.

About Castle Park Print Club 

Peter Appleton -  a practicing artist with a First-Class Hons Degree in Fine Art, acts as the groups leader for Castle Park Print Club. 

Castle Park Print Club is a collective of 12 practicing artists that come together to develop their print making skills. The lead member rents a studio at Castle Park Arts Centre and the group pay subs to use the space which is equipped with a variety of printing equipment including a hand press and a flatbed press. The group has been established for 2 years and is self-funded, generating sufficient revenue to cover rental costs and art supplies. 

The club has exhibited collectively and run several workshops which include: 

  • Linocuts 

  • Gelli Plates 

  • Collagraphs 

  • Etching 

  • Dry point (using recycled plastics and tetra packs)
