Brigitte Watkinson - The Secret Life of Trees

Through the series ' The secret life of trees' I aim to visualise the personalities, thoughts and feelings that trees suggest through their shapes and surroundings. Having progressed through slightly different styles of visualisation, I now attempt to strip back as much as possible and simplify my paintings, allowing me to focus more on the trees' stories by means of colour and shape within their composition in the landscape.

The Eddisbury Artists - Another Prospective

The Eddisbury Artists - Another Prospective

The Eddisbury Artists have been in existence for some 21 years. During the winter, they meet to paint and draw at Castle Park Arts Centre and through the summer, paint outdoors in the local area.

Perspective appears throughout our world. A walk along any High Street reveals the diminishing lines of architecture reaching for a vanishing point in the distance.  Perspective can be shown using relative size, line, form, tone and colour management.

Another perspective may be an alternative view, viewpoint, point of view, perception or proportion. Abstract concepts are by their nature an exercise in representing another perspective.

Of course, when you view the exhibition you will bring your own interpretation to the artist’s work. This will allow you to engage with yet – ‘Another Perspective.’

David Nolan - Retrospective - Painting for Pleasure

David was born in Liverpool in 1942 where he grew up and went to Liverpool art school after which he began working in the printing industry as a lithographic artist/ retoucher. He painted for pleasure but also worked to commissions.
David and his wife came to Frodsham in 1989 to run the post office on Main Street. He became involved in the activities of Frodsham by becoming a local councillor on Frodsham town council and worked towards reigniting the Frodsham flower show. He was a founder member of the Eddisbury artists which used to meet at the post office prior to moving to castle park art centre when they had sufficient members. He displayed his paintings with the group in exhibitions which took place in various locations around Cheshire and the North West.
Sadly he died in 2000 at the age of 58 years. Open Evening 23rd February 7-9pm free entry and refreshments
