About
Rachel Evans of Wheatcroftwillow makes traditional and contemporary willow baskets using home grown Staffordshire willow, and hazel. She specialises in robust, functional work, such as baskets for logs, laundry and made to measure baskets as well as coffins and larger sculptures. She is also interested in historical baskets and recreating ancient shapes and weaves.She is inspired by the landscape around her and the variety and colours of her materials, the seasonality of winter harvesting, mellowing, sorting and soaking the willow.Rachel teaches basketmaking from beginner to intermediate level.
