Completion of Reflections Programme

The Arts Centre gardening group came together in 2020 as restrictions during the Covid pandemic began to be lifted.  It enabled people to meet during lockdowns and do some work outside and enjoy the company of others, even if socially distanced.  The results have been spectacular and the garden areas around the Centre are now visible and full of features for the public to enjoy.  I cannot thank our volunteers enough for their efforts over the last three years.  Happily, there is now a permanent memorial of the pandemic which was formally opened on 9 September 2023 by Mike Garvey.

The installation is part of the "Reflections" programme which is a borough wide cultural programme that aims "to engage creatively with a range of communities across Chester West  & Chester allowing time for meaningful reflection on how Covid-19 has had, and continues to have, impact on individuals and communities".

Our installation comprises three glass panels and was created by Helen Davies from Lymm.  It is located between the Children's play area and the Arts Centre.  We had just completed installing the panels last week when I heard a father explaining to his young child what the pandemic was all about.  Here is a shot of the installation on a lovely day and our thanks go to  everyone who made this happen.
